Who should attend
The workshop is open to anyone interested in photography whether you use
a digital or film based SLR. Although the course is primarily aimed at
those with an interest in garden, flowers & landscape photography,
it would benefit anyone interested in improving their photography and camera
technique. Gardens and flowers in particular are probably one of the most
photographed and painted subjects of all time, botanical interest spanning
centuries all over the world.
What will you do on the course — subjects covered
This course is designed not only to improve your understanding of the camera,
but also your shooting, composition and lighting skills taking you to new
levels of visual awareness, creativity, and basic technical ability. We
will be making a field trip to a local garden of outstanding beauty (the
entrance fee and transport to the garden are included in the course fee
and a picnic lunch will be provided).
What should you bring with you
- A film or digital. 35mm/SLR camera with selection
of lenses ranging
between 24 – 200mm full frame.
- Or a compact point and shoot camera with
macro/flower
and aperture priority setting.
- If film - bring film of your choice colour
and/or black & white
- If digital - bring enough film cards & batteries
- Macro lens or Diopters
(which are screw in close–up filters)
- A sturdy carrying case for the above
- A tripod
- A waterproof rug and/or a kneeling cushion.
- A pair of comfortable walking
shoes/boots
- A favorite photographic print.
