What you will do on the course The two days will include an introduction to trompe l'oeil and a demonstration of various techniques needed to create an illusion of three dimensions on a flat surface. For example how to paint stonework or cloth; understanding basic perspective; how to mix shadow colours and chosing subjects for small scale murals.
What will be provided Each student will be provided with a primed panel on which they can create their own trompe l'oeil to take home. There will be a choice of two designs - a still life in an alcove or a view through a window - which you can copy, or use as a starting point, depending on your confidence. Samantha will also be demonstrating popular trompe l'oeil subjects for example how to paint a playing card on a shelf or a note pinned to a wall.
