Sarah has been making jewellery for the past 20 years and in that time her work has sold in Libertys, Harrods and Browns Bride in London and her pieces often appear in Brides, Wedding, Wedding Ideas and You and Your Wedding.
Sarah enjoys recycling antique pieces to create contemporary jewellery using wire work techniques combining vintage pieces with beads, gold leaves and semi precious stones. Found objects such as driftwood, sea plastic and slate pebbles often find their way into her work.

What you will do on the course If you have never made jewellery before don't worry! First you will learn how to make links for bracelets, necklaces and charms (using beads and found objects), earring techniques.
You will then advance a bit more to wire wrapping, deco style, crocheting with wire, wire platting with beads, wire wrapped rings (no solder) Using antique brooches, beads and lace you will be remaking them into new contemporary pieces using wirework techniques such as wireplaiting and deco-wrapping. Before long you will be making your own projects! You will able to leave the course with several finished pieces to wear...
(This course may also suit anyone wishing to make bridal jewellery, such as tiaras and wedding necklaces, so if this appeals to you why not bring along your own vintage jewellery which may have a special or sentimental value).
What you should bring with you All tools (which you can take home to continue your projects). Wire, beads etc. will be available. (If you want additional wire during the course, or to take home, extra can be purchased from Sarah as well as beads and stones).
What will be provided Quirky found objects you want to incorporate into your work, such as bits of lace, old vintage jewellerysuch as brooches, earrings , buttons and charms. Just let you imagination run riot! |
