What you will do on the course (both 2 and 3 day course)
The emphasis of this course is to learn about creating different textures
with gesso to form the basis of an acrylic painting. Painters of any ability
will have fun trying this technique which is suitable for any style from
abstract to more realistic scenes. After experimenting and creating the textured
base on the first day, the second (and 3rd) day will be spent working your
paintings in acrylics with more help and advice from Sara along the way.
DAY 1 - Morning
Each student will be given a piece of primed board (about 10x8in). The board
will already be divided into sections in pencil. Then with Sara demonstrating
we fill in each section practising a different texture in each box, eg.
stipple, cross hatching, leaves, flowers etc. Sara will have one already
prepared as an example.
DAY 1 - Afternoon
Students will have another primed board, again probably around 10x8in. They
will transfer their chosen design/scene in pencil outline onto the board.
Then laying on textured gesso to suit with Sara's assistance.
DAY 2 (and 3,
for 3 day course)
Students will be able to choose which pictures to paint from the two prepared
on the first day. If there is time they can work on both. Sara will be
able to give a demonstration and particular help for beginners where needed.
