Sue Dove has a degree in textiles from Liverpool School of Art and moved to Australia where she worked and taught until 1974. Sue then moved back to Cornwall where she has been working as a textile artist producing embroideries, paintings and unusual dolls. Sue has also been teaching fine art textiles at Cornwall College since 1999. Her work has appeared in Embroidery Magazine and Stitch and she has also produced a book entitled Painting with Stitches.

What you will do on the course

Make a unique doll or creature

Using hand stitching you will make up a doll or creature from your own design that you will then decorate/embelish with your favorite pieces of fabric, vintage 'nice bits', odd samples of your own embroidery and even odd pieces of jewellery. Only basic sewing skills are required, so come and enjoy yourself!


What is provided

  • Calico
  • Sewing threads
  • Scissors
  • Needles

 

What you need to bring

Small lengths of calico type fabric, pieces of patterned fabric. Children’s old clothes, table cloths, curtains etc. (maybe use the old clothes or linens you are fond of). Buttons, beads, threads, odd bits of jewellery (if you have any old broken pieces or any other stuff you can think of).
